Abstract
Generally, pain and Swelling following surgical extraction of impacted tooth are treated with physical therapy (cold pack) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic agents (nonnarcotic analgesics), which decrease pain without causing alteration in level of consciousness. All non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic drugs, including aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen, have potential side effects of gastrointestinal irritation and may cause allergic reactions. The authors investigated and evaluated the effects and untoward effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory anagesics `Enfenamic Acid¢¥ in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, especially about the effect on post-extraction pain, swelling and any complications.
30 patients whose impacted teeth were extracted surgically were evaluated.
The results were as follows ;
1. Effective analgesic action was obtained in all patients
2. Any complications except 1 drowsiness were not occurred
3. Effective anti-inflammatory action was obtained in 26 patients (86.7%)
So, this drug can be used effectively and safely in minor oral and maxillofacial surgery.
